madonna1Boarding her private jet on Sunday, popstar Madonna left Malawi in disappointment after her attempt to adopt a second child from the African country was met with rejection.

The authorities were one step ahead of the bystanders and reporters by placing roadblocks in the airport. Witnesses said that Madonna was carrying her adopted Malawian son David while boarding the Gulfstream jet. The plane was bound for Gatwick Airport in London, as revealed by an anonymous air traffic official.

According to reports, the singer has not given up her petition since she will be filing an appeal on the court ruling.

Malawian court rejects Madonna’s adoption bid

Apr 3, 2009 Author: admin | Filed under: Celebrities, Madonna

madonnaAward-winning multi-platinum artist Madonna won’t be allowed to adopt another child from Malawi. This was decided by the Malawi’s High Court on Friday. The pop star was bidding to adopt four-year old Mercy James.

Ken Manda, the court registrar, revealed that the decision to reject was due to Madonna not being a resident of the country. Malawi government was criticized before when Madonna was allowed to adopt 13-month old David Banda in 2006  because she was given special treatment. This time, however, the pop star’s request was denied.

Judge Esimie Chombo stated in her decision that allowing celebrity adoptions could lead to child trafficking.

“Anyone could come to Malawi and quickly arrange for an adoption that might have grave consequences on the very children that the law seeks to protect,” she said.

wolverineA visual effects company based in Australia is currently in hot waters after being accused of leaking a full-length work print of the upcoming film “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.”

Rising Sun Pictures, the company contracted for the visual effects of the film, were allegedly the culprits of this incident since their company’s name were captioned in the leaked copy that was seen online on March 2. However, the company denied having anything to do with the unfortunate incident.

“As we worked on individual sequences within the film, neither Rising Sun Pictures or its staff members have ever been in possession of a full-length version, so it would have been impossible for the movie to have been leaked from here,” Rising Sun Pictures chairman Tony Clark said in a statement published on the company’s website.

The Hugh Jackman-starrer deals with the beginnings of one of the most famous Marvel characters. The film is scheduled for release on May 1 but started appearing on file-sharing sites this week.

“ER” amassed 122 Emmy Award nominations since it started in September 1994 and launched the careers of some of its cast members – including Oscar-winning actor George Clooney and Noah Wyle.

Other former cast members making an appearance in the final season were Laura Innes, Alex Kingston, Sherry Stringfield and Eriq La Salle.
