Family dog gobbles up $400 in cash

dog_paperWe’ve probably heard of the age-old excuse for not making the homework – “our dog ate it.” In this case, we may consider giving this an extra thought.

In North Carolina, a family’s dog reportedly ate paper – not just any paper – but the mom’s hard-earned cash!

According to reports, Kelley Davis discovered that the extra money she earned as a physical therapist was gone. She was planning to deposit the money in the bank but after searching for hours in her home and her pockets, she discovered that there’s something unusual about her dog.

She said that she left the money in her bedroom and her dog, a Swiss mountain breed named Augie, was also there at that time. She deduced that the dog might have eaten the money.

barking_dogAuthorities from Louisiana have reportedly arrested a 32-year old Texan man after he was seen by construction workers eating mud and barking like a dog. He was arrested on Thursday.

The woman who accompanied the suspect to the precinct told the investigators that he had been loitering around the construction site and eating dog food. The authorities discovered that the man had a half-pound of marijuana, one-fourth ounce of crack cocaine and a small bottle of PCP in his pocket during the arrest.

The man has been booked with possessing the aforementioned drugs with the intent to distribute them. He’s currently jailed at the DeSoto Detention Center.

Meanwhile, a young would-be robber in Rapid City, South Dakota got cold feet when the elderly man that he was about to rob defended himself with an ice scraper.

Wall Street crisis affects Sesame Street

big_birdThe global financial crisis has taken its toll in one of the world’s most recognized places – “Sesame Street.”

“Sesame Street” creator Sesame Workshop, a nonprofit company, is reportedly reducing one-fifth of its work force. The company announced this week that nearly 70 out of 355 existing staff members will be let go.

The company stated that just like others, it is “not immune to the unprecedented challenges of today’s economic environment.” As such the company said that they will have to “to operate with fewer resources in order to achieve our strategic priorities.”

Bill Gates clinches back world’s richest title

bill_gatesMicrosoft founder Bill Gates reclaimed the title as the world’s richest man. This was reported by Forbes magazine on Wednesday.

The global financial crisis affected the performance of many of the world’s big corporations thus reshuffling the list this year. According to the magazine report, there was a significant decrease of billionaires – from 1,125 last year to 793 this year. The total assets plummeted from $4.4 trillion to $2.4 trillion.

Monie Begley, a spokesperson for Forbes magazine, joked that the good news behind this list is that “there are still billionaires.”

This year, Gates amassed a net worth of $40 billion. Coming in at second place is Berkshire Hathaway founder Warren Buffett. Buffett’s company saw a loss of $25 billion in its shares this year.

Pet store gets an unexpected shipment

petsAn unexpected shipment was delivered to a pet store in Philadelphia on Tuesday, prompting the owner to immediately take action and find a solution.

According to reports, pet shop owner Mark Arabia discovered that they got a shipment containing a dead human body instead of their usual stock of tropical fish and salt water. He said they usually receive the items by air cargo that’s why it did not occur to him that he’ll encounter something unusual.

Arabia owns the Pets Plus store located in northeastern part of Philadelphia. He said that he was informed that the body was of a 65-year old man who lived in San Diego, California who died of Alzheimer’s Disease. The body was supposed to have been sent to a laboratory in Allentown for medical research.
