Gothic makeup has taken the spotlight this past month, thanks to the mania on the blockbuster film “Twilight.”

The movie was based on the novel of the same title authored by Stephenie Meyer. It opened at number one last weekend in U.S. theaters with box office receipts reaching $66 million.

The vampirish-look has become a fad these days among teenagers in anticipation of the film. Also fueling this look is the presence of TV series that feature black-clad vampires.

Make-up experts revealed that the vampire look is considered chic this season.

Dior Beauty rep. Ricky Wilson said: “Everywhere you look, people are using black eyeliner for lip-liner and putting red lipstick over that to give you very deep blood-red lips.” The make-up brand recently launched a new line called Twilight. The colors include silver, dark gray and blue palette which is fitting for someone who wants to sport a gothic look.

golden_globesOnline spoilers have ruined the fun for West Coast viewers of the Golden Globes in the past, finding out the winner even before it was announced during the broadcast. This won’t be a problem anymore in next year’s ceremony since it will be televised live nationally for the first time.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) announced this week that the 67th installment of the Golden Globe Awards will be broadcast on NBC network at 5 pm on January 17 in the West Coast. The East Coast, which is three hours ahead, will get to see the show live at 8 in the evening.

For the past years, the broadcast is live in other areas except in the West Coast.

The reason behind this move is to increase the ratings of the awards broadcast. In 2008, the ceremony became a simple news conference following the Hollywood writers’ strike.
