Surviving Beatles members reunite on all-star concert

paul_mccartneyRingo Starr and Paul McCartney, the surviving members of Beatles, have reportedly reunited for the first time in the concert scene in seven years in an all-star event on meditation last weekend.

The “Change Begins Within” concert took place at the Radio City Music Hall last Saturday. Proceeds of the event will go to the David Lynch Foundation, which aims to help at-risk youth meditation techniques.

The duo last performed together at the Concert for George in 2002, an event that honored their fellow bandmate George Harrison who died a year before.

The concert last Saturday featured award winning musicians such as Eddie Vedder and Sheryl Crow.

Tom and Gisele wed for the second time

giselle_tomeLove is definitely overflowing for high profile couple Quarterback Tom Brady and Brazilian model Gisele Bündchen. The couple has decided to marry for the second time – this time at Bündchen’s home in Costa Rica last weekend. This development was reported by People magazine.

The intimate ceremony was attended by less than thirty family members and friends and took place during the sunset. Also seen in the event was Brady’s one and half year old son Jack.

The 28-year old bride reportedly wore a long designer gown and a ten-foot-long veil. She walked down the aisle carrying a bouquet of white orchids. The 31-year old groom simply wore a gray jacket with vest and white pants.

Vin Diesel (AP Photo)“Fast & Furious” sets year’s best opening weekend record at $72.5 million

Universal Picture’s “Fast & Furious” was clearly the biggest winner in last weekend’s box office by amassing $72.5 million in ticket sales, the best yet this year.

The high-adrenaline street-racing franchise booted out last week’s topnotcher “Monsters vs. Aliens.” The DreamWorks Animation film still performed strong with $33.5 million in ticket sales, piling up its two-week total to $105.7 million, according to studio estimates.

Media By Numbers President Paul Dergarabedian said that summer has begun early for the moviegoers.

“It’s summer time in April. We’ve seen the summer season stretch from what used to be Memorial Day through Labor Day, then the first of May through Labor Day. Now maybe with `Fast & Furious,’ it’s going to be early April as the beginning of summer,” he said.

AP PhotoThe funeral of reality TV star Jade Goody still got comprehensive media coverage, somewhat the same attention that was given to her while she was still alive.

Goody died of cervical cancer on March 22 at the young age of 27. Prior to her death, she married fiancé Jack Tweed which was a media event.

Scores of fans and journalists were present at London’s St. John the Baptist Church on Saturday. Large TV screens were installed to provide better coverage of the events. The reality star’s publicist pointed out that Goody would have wanted the funeral to be this way.

“She will have a big smile on her face when she sees what is going on today,” Max Clifford said.

“In life she loved being loved and it is pretty clear that this is the overwhelming feeling today,” he added.

Madonna jets out of Malawi after adoption blunder

madonna1Boarding her private jet on Sunday, popstar Madonna left Malawi in disappointment after her attempt to adopt a second child from the African country was met with rejection.

The authorities were one step ahead of the bystanders and reporters by placing roadblocks in the airport. Witnesses said that Madonna was carrying her adopted Malawian son David while boarding the Gulfstream jet. The plane was bound for Gatwick Airport in London, as revealed by an anonymous air traffic official.

According to reports, the singer has not given up her petition since she will be filing an appeal on the court ruling.

Judge Esme Chombo ruled on Friday that Madonna did not meet the conditions to adopt another child, stating that the popstar is not a resident of the country.
