A spokesperson for Grammy Award-winning British artist Amy Winehouse revealed that the singer was not granted a work visa to perform in the United States next month because of an assault charge filed against her last week.

According to reports, the 25-year old singer had been scheduled to perform at California’s annual Coachella festival. Other celebrities scheduled to perform in this prestigious festival during the second week of April include The Killers and Paul McCartney.

Winehouse, winner of Grammy Awards last year, was charged with assault from an incident that took place at Berkeley Square in London last year.

Grammy Award-winning British singer Amy Winehouse was rushed to the hospital last weekend due to a suspected chest infection.

Winehouse has been getting a lot of tabloid coverage for the past year due to her drug addiction and controversial personal life. On Thursday, a doctor visited her London home to check on her health and was forced to require further medical treatment after her condition worsened.

“Amy is in hospital being checked out for a chest infection. She is not back in rehab. She should be fine and is expected to return home soon,” a friend was quoted as saying.

Despite these problems, Winehouse is reportedly working on a new album.
