In order to challenge the critics on his company’s advertising efforts, an Ireland-based airline company executive wore a swimwear and posed for publicity photographs.
Ryanair Chief Executive Officer Michael O’Leary was being criticized by an advertising group for marketing his company with naked women. This accusation was denied by the Irish executive.
According to reports, the Swedish Ethical Council against Sexism in Advertising through its secretary Tobias Eltell criticized the 2009 “Girls of Ryanair” calendar released by the company.
In an interview with the local media, Eltell said: “He seems to think that naked girls and his air company have a connection.”
O’Leary stressed that none of the models in the calendar posed in nude. He said that the featured cabin crews were all wearing bikinis and that they will never resort to naked pictures.
These allegations prompted O’Leary to strip down and wear a male swimwear to prove his point.
The company released a new statement on the matter this week.
“Ryanair has defended the right of girls to strip off for charity with Michael O’Leary donning “sexy” swimwear to join cabin crew calendar stars Charlotte (Miss Wild) and Ingrid (Miss Mechanic).”
