dog_reunitedA pet dog that was believed to have drowned after falling overboard during a sailing trip off the coast in Australia was found four months later living in an uninhabited island.

Jan Griffith’s family was sailing through rough waters last November when the dog, named Sophie Tucker, fell overboard. The family was devastated, believing the dog would not have survived.

However, Sophie Tucker swam and made it to St Bees Island, an island that was five nautical miles away from where she fell and made quick adjustment in her environment, living off baby feral goats.

The rangers thought they have captured a wild dog but friends who heard about this contacted the Griffiths to check it out if it is their dog.

“We called the dog and she started whimpering and banging the cage and they let her out and she just about flattened us,” Griffith said in an interview.
The dog is back to her usual diet of dog biscuits and meat. The family wishes that the dog could talk and recount her adventures at sea.
