Boarding her private jet on Sunday, popstar Madonna left Malawi in disappointment after her attempt to adopt a second child from the African country was met with rejection.
The authorities were one step ahead of the bystanders and reporters by placing roadblocks in the airport. Witnesses said that Madonna was carrying her adopted Malawian son David while boarding the Gulfstream jet. The plane was bound for Gatwick Airport in London, as revealed by an anonymous air traffic official.
According to reports, the singer has not given up her petition since she will be filing an appeal on the court ruling.
Judge Esme Chombo ruled on Friday that Madonna did not meet the conditions to adopt another child, stating that the popstar is not a resident of the country.
Malawian laws specifically require parents to live in the country for about 18 months to two years. Ironically, this condition was bent when Madonna adopted David three years ago.
