The annual Testicle Festival in Oakdale, California was once again a big hit among patrons. Volunteers from Oakdale’s Rotary Club fried up four hundred pounds of bulls’ testicles and served them up to diners who willingly paid up $50 per plate.
The proceeds of the event will go to the Oakland Cowboy Museum. Last year, more than 400 people took part in this annual event and raised about $28,000. This year, the figures are expected to go beyond that.
It has been a common practice for young bulls to be castrated in order for them to be managed easily by cattle ranchers. This delicacy has been referred to as “mountain oysters.”
In order to generate interest in the event, Rotary volunteers sell tickets and guarantee the buyers that they will definitely “have a ball” in the event.
