Fifty-year old award-winning artist Madonna is reportedly set to adopt another child from Malawi. This development was confirmed by the country’s officials. However, there’s a possibility that the request may be denied due to Madonna’s current single parent status.

The popstar filed the adoption papers last Thursday, according to a Malawi welfare department official. Madonna will personally visit the African country this weekend to personally process the documents and the Malawian court will decide on the case as early as Monday next week.

As of now, there’s no confirmation from the popstar’s end. Madonna’s spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg declined to comment on the matter.

Malawian laws stated that it will not approve adoptions for divorced or single parents. As reported, Madonna’s just had a divorce from director Guy Ritchie. It is yet to be determined if the law will be circumvented to allow Madonna’s request.

The Grammy Award-winning artist adopted Malawian boy David Banda in 2006. The boy’s mother died and the father stated that he doesn’t have the means to care for him.
