Richard Hatch, the winner of the first season of CBS hit reality series “Survivor,” is reportedly asking from immediate release from prison due to improper calculation of his jail term. He has a four-year and three-month prison term in West Virginia.
Hatch was jailed due to evading tax dues on the $1 million cash prize that he won from the series.
The sole Survivor filed the request on Tuesday in US District Court in Providence.
Hatch claimed on his memo that he’s innocent of the charges and that he was represented by ineffective and incompetent attorneys thus leading to this unreasonable prison term.
“Hatch’s portrayal on “Survivor” and his media-concocted caricature as villainous and manipulative continue to unfairly bleed into legal proceedings and wield unjust influence,” Hatch quoted on his request.
A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s office will be responding on this case in the coming days.
