The producers of the top-rating “Dancing with the Stars” are reportedly scrambling to find two new contestants in time for its premiere next week. This was found out after celebrity journalist Nancy O’Dell and multiplatinum artist Jewel had to drop out due to injuries.
The eighth season of the hit TV series is scheduled to begin on Monday. ABC officials have yet to announce the replacements.
However, several media outlets have reported that former Playboy model Holly Madison is expected to fill one of the vacant slots. The 30-year old model was a former girlfriend of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner.
Jewel, a Grammy Award-winning singer, was forced to leave the show after incurring fractured tibia on each leg during practice. O’Dell, a reporter for “Access Hollywood,” suffered torn meniscus in her knee during practice as well.
Other participants in the eighth installment of the hit series will feature former Apple executive Steve Wozniak, actress Denise Richards, Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson and rapper Lil’ Kim.
Last season, DWTS averaged 19 million viewers per episode.
