The State Patrol in Colorado has decided to withdraw the $22 jaywalking ticket issued to a person who risked his life by pushing three people out of the bath of a rampaging pickup vehicle.
Denver resident Jim Moffett and a companion helped 2 elderly women cross a busy street on February 20. He pushed the people out of the way and sacrificed himself instead.
The 58-year old bus driver suffered broken bones, dislocated shoulder and bleeding in the brain. He’s still in the hospital and his wife said that it’s going to be a hard road for him.
The State Patrol released a statement saying that the citation was revoked after they reviewed the circumstances leading to the violation. This was consulted with the prosecutors.
The authorities have said in earlier reports that the accident was caused by the jaywalking. However, they started to see a different angle from this ordeal. The other people involved were not cited for jaywalking except the pickup driver which still has a pending careless driving charge.
