A 17-year old boy from Schenectady, New York is currently facing a serious felony charge for disguising himself as a girl to take the Regents exam in place of another high school student.

Deandre Ellis was arrested on Tuesday. According to the authorities, an exam official was verifying each student and discovered that Ellis did not match the person taking the test. District spokeswoman Karen Corona said that a closer scrutiny revealed that the exam-taker was a boy posing as a girl.

The probation authorities have released Ellis for the meantime. The police said that he was charged with burglary for entering the school with the intention to commit a crime. The suspect’s attorney has yet to release an official statement about the matter.
